Female Athlete of the Week -- Barbara Briceno-- Female Athlete of the Week for week ending Oct. 23 --
Barbara Briceno, a sophomore from Lima, Peru, had a big 25 kills in a five-set win over Otero Junior College last week. In the three conferference matches, Briceno tallied 47 kills and 32 digs. Against Otero, she had 25 kills with 16 digs while hitting .426. Barbara also had a double-double of 15 kills and 16 digs in a four-set win over Trinidad State. Barbara now has 1,080 career kills and ranks among the top 10 in career kill leaders. Barbara leads the nation in total kills and total points.
Male Athlete of the Week -- Billy Hoffmann-- Male Athlete of the Week for week ending Oct. 23 --
Billy Hoffmann, a sophomore from Longmont, Colorado, is one of the leaders on the Cougar men's soccer team. Hoffmann is a defensive player for the Cougars and has one assist on the season. Last week, Hoffmann helped the Cougars at the regional tournament against Trinidad State, but the Cougars couldn't get the win. Hoffmann not only is a leader on the field, but he is a leader off the court, majoring in pre-med and is an avid supporter of all Cougar athletics.
