  • WNCC softball sweeps Garden City

    GARDEN CITY, Kan. – The Western Nebraska Community College softball team put together timely hitting in taking a doubleheader from Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kansas, on Thursday. In the opener, Emma McMillan tossed a 4-hit shutout as the Cougars earned an 8-0, six-inning win over the Broncbusters. The second game saw WNCC get 12 hits in earning the 12-4, six-inning victory.
  • Rees hits grand slam, softball falls to Howard

    BIG SPRINGS, Texas – The Western Nebraska Community College softball team suffered a doubleheader loss to Howard College on Thursday. In the first game, WNCC started the game with five, first-inning runs, but Howard responded back to earn the 14-7 win. The second game saw WNCC fall behind early and never could take the lead in falling 13-5.
  • WNCC softball falls to Howard on Tuesday in close games

    BIG SPRINGS, Texas -- The Western Nebraska Community College softball team faced No. 11 Howard College Wednesday in Big Springs, Texas, and competed tooth and nail. In the end, the number 11 team in the NJCAA pre-season polls was just a clutch hit better than the Cougars in earning the doubleheader sweep. The first game saw WNCC outhit Howard 13-12 with the Cougars getting a pair of home runs from Emma Glawson before falling in the bottom of the seventh when Howard scored three times for the 9-8 win. The second game saw each team finish with seven hits, but Howard scored three late runs to earn the 6-3 win.
  • WNCC softball sweeps Frank Phillips

    BORGER, Texas – The Western Nebraska Community College softball team plated 30 runs and hammered four home runs in opening the season with a doubleheader win over Frank Phillips College Tuesday in Borger, Texas. The opener saw freshman Mickie Mills pick up the win in the circle while helping her cause at the plate with a home run and four RBIs in leading the Cougars to a 10-2 win. The second game saw the Cougars pound out 17 hits, including three home runs and a 3-double performance from Devon Rees in recording the 20-0 shutout win over Frank Phillips.
  • WNCC softball team opens season Tuesday

                    With 19 players on the roster this season, the Western Nebraska Community College softball team is looking for exciting things when they open the season Tuesday, Feb., 5 at Frank Phillips College.                 Practices leading up to the season-opener have seen nothing but positives with a team that features five returners from a year ago and 14 new faces.
  • WNCC’s Loya, Ramirez ink with York College

    Western Nebraska Community College softball team’s Gabby Loya and Abriana Ramirez will be continuing their softball playing for another two years after signing with York College on Sunday. Loya and Ramirez were vital contributors for the Cougars last season and both are excited they get to continue their playing careers at the next level after they graduate from WNCC in May.
