Western Nebraska Community College athletics is calling on Cougar fans past and present to help recognize excellence and service as it prepares for its third Hall of Fame induction.
The next WNCC Athletic Hall of Fame class will be inducted in early 2027, coinciding with the college's 100th anniversary celebration. The induction ceremony will take place during a Cougar basketball game.
The Hall of Fame committee is now accepting nominations for former Cougar student-athletes, coaches, teams, athletic staff, as well as fans and supporters who have made significant contributions to WNCC athletics. Nominated athletes and coaches must have been away from Cougar athletics for at least five years.
The nomination deadline is June 24, with committee deliberations scheduled to begin at the end of June. The 2027 class will be announced in the fall.
Nominations can be submitted online at www.wnccathletics.com and by clicking the event banner, or directly at: https://wnccathletics.com/.../Cougar_Athletic_Hall_of_Fame.
The first Hall of Fame induction in 2017 saw Dick "Night Train" Lane and Bobby Jackson inducted. The 2022 class included Bernard Garner and the Blomenkamps/Runza. Fans are encouraged to submit deserving candidates for consideration before the deadline.
