                NORTH PLATTE – The Western Nebraska Community College softball team ran their win streak to seven straight after taking a Region IX conference doubleheader from North Platte Community College Friday afternoon in North Platte.

                The Cougars led from start to finish in game one, pounding out 17 hits as Gracie Holm got the pitching win while also leading the Cougars at the plate with a four-RBI game and two doubles to lead WNCC to the 13-9 win.

                The second contest saw a 10-strikeout performance from Mia Migliaccio while holding North Platte to just three hits compared to 13 for WNCC as the Cougars captured the 7-2 win.

                WNCC moves to 22-24 overall and will host North Platte on Sunday in both teams' last regular season games. The doubleheader, which starts at noon at Volunteer Field, will also be sophomore recognition for the six sophomore players and the student assistant after the contests.

                The first game saw WNCC score in five of the seven innings while taking advantage of eight North Platte miscues. WNCC had three fielding errors in the contest.

                WNCC took a 1-0 lead with a run in the first when Holm doubled home Tori Travers. WNCC added three more in the third for a 4-0 lead on a Holm RBI hit and the Adi Duke hit a 2-run home run.

                North Platte came back by scoring in four straight innings, including one in the third, two in the fourth, two in the fifth, and four in the sixth. WNCC also scored runs, plating four in the fourth for an 8-1 lead. The fourth saw Alyssa Albaugh lead off with a double. WNCC plated three runs on run-scoring singles from Ellie Soper and Tina Horton, and the final run came oi an error.

                The Cougars made it 11-5 with three in the sixth. Holm scored Travers and Abbey Arntsen with a double and then Albaugh gets a bunt single to score another run. North Platte scored four in the bottom of the frame to trail 11-9. WNCC plated two insurance runs in the seventh as Jasmine Castron had a hard hit down the third base line that resulted in two runs coming in.

                WNCC had 17 hits in the contest with seven batters collecting two or more hits. Holm led the way with a 3-for-5 performance with two doubles, four RBIs, and two runs scored. Travers also had three hits with four runs scored, while Horton, Arntsen, Duke, Albaugh, and Sarkanyova all had two hits.

                The second contest saw a sterling pitching performance from Migliaccio, who rang up 10 strikeouts while giving up three hits.

                WNCC scored first with two in the second. Castro and Adi Duke each had singles and Albaugh singled in two runs. The fourth inning saw WNCC score four times. Holm led off with a double followed by four straight singles for the 6-0 lead.

                North Platte scored twice in the bottom of the fourth, but that was all the Knights could get as WNCC added an insurance run in the seventh when Duke singled, scoring Travers.

                Migliaccio got the complete-game win as the Arizona native allowed just three hits and two runs. Migliaccio walked two and struck out 10.

                Offensively, WNCC had 13 hits, led by three-hit performances from Albaugh and Duke. Travers, and Castro each had two hits in the contest.
