TRINIDAD, Colo. – The 20th ranked Western Nebraska Community College women's basketball team put four players in double figures and rolled to a 77-39 Region IX South Division win Friday in Trinidad, Colorado.
The win was the Cougars 11th straight and runs their record to 18-2 on the season. More importantly, the Cougars are still unbeaten in South play with a 7-0 mark. WNCC faces another South opponent Saturday when they travel to Otero Junior College.
WNCC took control of the contest from the get-go, rolling to a 14-3 first quarter lead and led 33-13 at halftime. The Cougars never looked back in the second quarter, scoring 26 third quarter points and then adding another 18 in the fourth for the 38-point win.
WNCC shot 55 percent from the game while putting four in double figures. Sladjana Rakovic led the way with 15 points including three steals. Zeynep Canbaz followed in with 13 points.
Rylee Ward also collected 14 points in the game along with four rebounds, while Myriam Garcia had 11 points and five boards.
The Cougars finished the game with 34 rebounds and recorded 11 steals in a solid defensive effort.
