Western Nebraska Community College will hold its PAWzitively Pink night on Thursday, October 5 when the No. 4-ranked WNCC Cougars battle Otero Junior College in a Region IX South conference match.
T-shirts for the event are now on sale with all proceeds going to the Festival of Hope. Anyone wishing to order a "Kill Breast Cancer" T-shirt may order one through Amy Winters at WNCC. Shirts are $12 each with an additional charge for XXL and XXXL. Individuals may contact Winters at 308-641-5125 to pre-order. Deadline is Sept. 28. Shirt sponsors are Runza, WNCC, and Scottsbluff Screenprinting/The Zone.
This is the 10th year that WNCC has hosted a Breast Cancer event in October for Breast Cancer Awareness. East year it is estimated that over 246,660 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die according to the National Breast Cancer website. There are over 2.8 million breast cancer survivors alive in the United States today.
During the volleyball match, which begins at 6 p.m., there will be information available about breast cancer and all cancer survivors will be admitted free into the game.
