WNCC men, women drop soccer matches on Saturday

                EPHRAIM, Utah – The Western Nebraska Community College women's and men's soccer teams dropped contests on Saturday in Ephraim, Utah.

                The Cougar women dropped a 6-0 contest to Yavapai College while the Cougar men fell to No. 17 Snow College 3-1.

                The women's contest saw Yavapai score three times in each half. Yavapai scored in the 21 minute on a goal by Morgan McLane and then Sophia Fottrell scored twice in the 37th and 40 minute for the 3-0 halftime lead.

                Yavapai added two goals in the 67th minute from Reagan Peterson and Gracey Fowlkes and then capped off the game with a goal from Jill Young in the 81st minute.

                Yavapai had 31 shots, 11 of which were on goal. WNCC tallied five shots, three of which were on goal. Julia Santos had two shots while Adryana Rodriguez, Nia Trevino, and Stefanie Ceja-Gomez each had one.

                Rory Weizenegger had five saves in net.

                The men's contest saw Snow College score twice in the first as Kade Davis scored in the 33rd minute and then Omer Sagiv scored in the 43rd minute for the 2-0 halftime lead.

                Snow added a third goal in the 78th minute. Two minutes later, WNCC got on the scoreboard as Tomoaki Kamiya had a free kick and punched it into the net.

                Snow had 14 shots, eight of which were on goal. WNCC tallied 12 shots, six of which were on goal. Anthony Lemus had three shots while Kamiya and Randall Jacques each had two shots.

                Ever Zubia had five saves in net for the Cougar men.

                Both teams will be back in action next weekend then they travel to Estherville, Iowa, to face Iowa Lake Community College and St. Louis Community College.
