WNCC’s Lashley ready to lead her Anguilla national team in CONCACAF qualifier
April 01, 2026When Western Nebraska Community College freshman Aeiasha Lashley walks onto the field, she carries more than a soccer ball at her feet. She carries the weight of a small Caribbean island, the hopes of a young national program, and the pride of a family and community that helped shape her. This month, Lashley will step away from the Cougars to join the Anguilla Senior Women’s National Team for the CONCACAF Women’s Qualifiers — a stage she has dreamed of reaching since she first realized soccer could take her beyond the borders of her 33‑square‑mile home. “Being selected to represent my country at the senior level means everything to me,” Lashley said. “It’s a huge honor. It tells me that my country believes in me, that my coaches and staff trust what I can bring to the team. That motivates me to give my absolute best.” -
WNCC women’s soccer fall to Western Wyoming
October 10, 2025The Western Nebraska Community College women’s soccer fought hard, but saw their season come to an end with a 5-0 loss to Western Wyoming Community College Friday afternoon at Landers Soccer Complex. Before the match, the Cougars recognized eight sophomores: Mariah Russel, Audrey Gosvener, Tanner Nelson, Marit Schelstraete, Amanda Duarte, Rachel Riordan, Danae Montalvo, and Melanie Belder. Western Wyoming moves to 8-0-1 in conference play and will face Laramie County Community College on Saturday. WNCC finishes conference play at 3-8 and overall at 3-12, “I think we really pulled it together in the second half and overall not a terrible performance,” the sophomore said. “I wish the first half could have been a bit better, but we live and we learn.” -
WNCC women’s soccer falls to Northwest on Saturday
October 04, 2025The Western Nebraska Community College women’s soccer team managed 11 shots on Saturday against Northwest College, but the Cougars couldn’t get any in the net as the Trappers registered a 4-0 conference win. The Cougars fell to 3-11 overall and 2-7 in conference play as they have one match left on their schedule when they host Western Wyoming Community College Friday at 1:30 p.m. It will also be sophomore recognition day for the ladies as they will wrap up the season. Saturday, the Cougars fell behind Northwest early as the Trappers scored on an own goal with 6:51 gone in the contest. -
WNCC soccer teams fall to Central Wyoming
October 03, 2025The Western Nebraska Community College women’s and men’s soccer teams dropped Region IX contests to Central Wyoming College on Friday at Landers Soccer Complex. The Cougar women hung tough with Central Wyoming as the two teams were tied at 1-1 at halftime, but in the end the Rustlers earned the 3-1 win. On the men’s side, Central Wyoming scored one second-half goal and then thwarted several scoring chances by WNCC late to earn the 1-0 win. -
WNCC women’s soccer falls to Barton on Tuesday
September 30, 2025It was a battle of Cougars Tuesday morning at Landers Soccer Complex and the Barton Community College Cougars scored two goals to earn the 4-1 win over Western Nebraska Community College women’s soccer team. The match was competitive with the difference being the Cougars had trouble finding the back of the net, especially in the second half where they had five good opportunities that were just high or wide. -
WNCC women fall to LCCC in soccer on Saturday
September 27, 2025The Western Nebraska Community College women’s soccer team dropped a Region IX conference contest to Laramie County Community College on Saturday. The Golden Eagles, who received votes in last week’s NJCAA national poll, earned the 7-0 win to move to 6-0-1 in the conference and 6-2-2 overall. WNCC drops to 3-8 overall and 2-5 in the conference. WNCC will have three matches next week beginning with a match with Barton Community College on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Landers Soccer Complex. WNCC will then have two matches over the weekend when Central Wyoming College and Northwest College come to Scottsbluff. Barton is 5-4 overall and the one common opponent saw Barton defeat Lamar 5-1 while WNCC topped Lamar 4-3. -
WNCC women’s soccer shuts out Trinidad 8-0
September 20, 2025Julia Santos, Amanda Duarte, and Mariah Russel each scored twice and the Western Nebraska Community College women’s soccer team shut out Trinidad State College 8-0 in a Region IX South conference contest Saturday at Landers Soccer Complex. It was the most goals the Cougars have scored in a match since the 2019 season when they won 12-0 against Dakota County Technical College. Russel scored the final two goals of the contest as the match was called via the 8-goal rule after 70 minutes have been played. Russel said the team played a lot better in the second half compared to the first. WNCC held a 2-0 lead at halftime and then scored six goals in the second half. -
WNCC women’s soccer team fall to Otero 5-3
September 19, 2025The Western Nebraska Community College and Otero College women’s soccer teams hooked up in an offensive battle Friday afternoon at Landers Soccer Complex with a combined eight goals. In the end, the Rattler women ruined the Cougars' home opener as Otero earned the 5-3 conference win. WNCC will be back in action Saturday afternoon when they host Trinidad State College in another conference contest with kickoff slated for 1:30 p.m. Admission to the soccer matches are free. -
WNCC women’s soccer splits contests over the weekend
September 12, 2025The Western Nebraska Community College women’s soccer team went on the road for two conference contests and came away with a split over the weekend. On Friday, Scottsbluff’s Mariah Russel scored the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute to give the Cougar women a 4-3 win over Lamar Community College. Saturday, the Cougars allowed two second-half goals in falling to Northeastern Junior College 3-1. -
WNCC women’s soccer falls to Casper on Saturday
September 06, 2025CASPER, Wyo. – The Western Nebraska Community College women’s soccer team got behind early and never could catch up as Casper College earned a 5-0 conference win on Saturday at Casper Kelly Walsh High School soccer field. Casper scored two goals within the first 10 minutes as Macey Engle scored at the 6-minute mark and then Taylor Miller scored at the 8-minute mark. -
WNCC women’s soccer fall to Gillette College
September 05, 2025GILLETTE, Wyo. – The Western Nebraska Community College women’s soccer team dropped their Region IX conference opener to Gillette College on Friday at Gillette, Wyoming. The Cougars, after playing a strong first half, gave up three second-half goals as the Pronghorns earned the 4-0 win. -
WNCC women capture win over pre-season ranked St. Louis
August 30, 2025SPENCER, Iowa – The Western Nebraska Community College women’s soccer team put together a complete game and registered a 2-1 win over St. Louis Community College Saturday in Spencer, Iowa. St. Louis came into the contest as the NJCAA Division II pre-season No. 14 team in the nation, and the Cougars showcased a solid effort in getting their first win of the season. WNCC head coach Todd Rasnic said his team put together two complete halves to get the win. -
WNCC men, women drop soccer matches on Saturday
August 23, 2025EPHRAIM, Utah – The Western Nebraska Community College women’s and men’s soccer teams dropped contests on Saturday in Ephraim, Utah. The Cougar women dropped a 6-0 contest to Yavapai College while the Cougar men fell to No. 17 Snow College 3-1. -
WNCC women’s soccer falls to Northwest
August 22, 2025EPHRAIM, Utah – The Western Nebraska Community College women’s soccer team dropped its season-opening game to Region IX foe Northwest College Friday in Ephraim, Utah. The Cougars trailed Northwest 1-0 at intermission and then allowed four, second-half goals in falling 5-2. WNCC will be back on the pitch on Saturday when they face Yavapai College at noon. Yavapai defeated Northwest 1-0 on Thursday. The Cougar men will face Snow College Saturday at 1:30 p.m. -
WNCC women’s soccer team opens season Friday on the road
August 19, 2025The Western Nebraska Community College women’s soccer team is ready to get going and this year’s team is full of talent. The Cougar women will open the season in Ephraim, Utah, when they face Northwest College on Friday, August 22 and Yavapai College on August 23. WNCC women’s head coach Todd Rasnic said this team is ready to get started. -
WNCC women’s soccer shows talent in weekend scrimmage
August 09, 2025Scottsbluff’s Adryana Rodriguez scored two goals and the Western Nebraska Community College women’s soccer team showed potential in a weekend scrimmage Saturday when the White team defeated the Pink team 4-1 in two 25-minute halves. “We played good for the first time together, but there is areas we need to work on,” Rodriquez said. “The offense worked fairly well together. There is a lot of depth and finished well together, but still needs perfected in areas.” The White team wasted little time in scoring as Julia Santos scored just a minute into the game for the 1-0 lead. At the 15:50 mark of the first half, Rodriquez scored her first goal to make it 2-0 off an assist from Audrey Gosvener. -
WNCC women’s soccer aiming for a better season this year
August 04, 2025The Western Nebraska Community College women’s soccer team won just three matches a year ago and this year the record could be reversed as the Cougar women opened pre-season practice over the weekend with plenty of talented players. Women’s soccer player Danae Montalvo, a sophomore from Quito, Ecuador, said this team has plenty of talent and everything has been going well so far after two days of practices. “I see the team doing very well this year and that we can go very far,” Montalvo said. “We want to win the region.”
